As the energy market evolves, our clients need a strategic partner who understands development risk, commercial timing, and the engineering decisions that drive project success.

Responsibilities

Join us in leading the change!

The Vice President of Sales and Business Development is an executive leadership role within the Energy Resources Business Unit. You will be responsible for driving sustainable strategic growth, cultivating high level customer relationships, and delivering creative commercial solutions. Leading a high performing team, you will oversee a 9-figure sales target and measurably influence the sourcing and closing of multimillion dollar deals. You will work closely with the commercial team, operational leaders, and executives to position EPE’s strategic advisory, resource interconnection, economic, and software capabilities around high value customer needs.

How you can make an impact:

Strategy and High Value Deals

  • Lead strategic account penetration and executive relationship building with developers, IPPs, EPCs, OEMs, and infrastructure investors.
  • Identify and shape multimillion dollar opportunities before they become formal RFPs.
  • Drive geographic and service expansion across core customer types throughout the United States and Canada.
  • Translate market trends into actionable long term growth plays for the business unit.
  • Navigate and interpret complex macro-economic and regulatory shifts, including FERC rulings, tax incentives and regional market rules, to position EPE as a primary strategic advisor.

Team Leadership and Mentorship

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high performing business development and sales team.
  • Set clear goals and provide guidance to ensure the team is empowered to support strategic deal closing.
  • Foster a culture that prioritizes professional development, deep customer relationships, and data as a cornerstone for decision making and operational excellence.

Commercial Discipline

  • Own a significant bookings target for the team, ensuring accountability for pipeline creation, management, and win loss ratios.
  • Lead pursuit strategies, including opportunity origination, qualification, win themes, and pricing strategy.
  • Support contract negotiation, risk review, and margin discipline for complex engagements.
  • Maintain disciplined CRM hygiene and provide executive visibility into key pursuits and forecast accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to refine multiyear revenue forecasting and resource planning.

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

The successful candidate is a relationship driven commercial executive who knows the energy market, understands engineering led services, and can open doors at the highest levels. You are equally comfortable discussing market strategy with a CEO, project risk with a developer, execution challenges with an EPC, and technical scope with an engineering leader. This role is for a market maker and trusted advisor who acts as a strategic growth leader to help EPE capture larger, earlier, and more profitable opportunities across the energy transition.

  • 15 plus years of experience in business development and commercial leadership within the energy sector.
  • Proven track record of originating and closing complex, multimillion dollar deals.
  • Established network with generation and data center developers, IPPs, EPCs, and OEMs.
  • Strong understanding of power markets and generation or load development.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical engineering capabilities and customer business outcomes.
  • Strong executive presence, communication skills, and commercial judgment with the ability to operate independently in a senior market facing role.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; engineering or business field preferred.
  • Experience in leading business units through periods of rapid scaling or digital service integration.

Success Measures

  • Total bookings growth from organic accounts and new customer relationships.
  • Measurable influence on the sourcing and conversion of multimillion dollar deals.
  • Pipeline quality measured by weighted win probability and alignment with strategic growth plays.
  • Expansion of EPE’s presence with strategic developers, EPCs, and infrastructure customers.
  • Cross functional alignment with technical, finance, marketing, and other executive functions.
