We are seeking a Director of Sales & Business Development, to support us in establishing and leading our business development team. Reporting to the VP of Sales & Business Development, your goal is to develop key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans. Successful execution of these strategies is critical to support EPE in achieving our ambitious targets. In addition, your responsibilities will include coaching, mentoring and motivating our sales team, while assessing market trends and competition. In addition to being an excellent communicator, our ideal candidate will also demonstrate exceptional negotiation and leadership skills.

 

Responsibilities

 

 

How you can make an impact:

  • Sales Execution: Provide Sales leadership in addressing significant problems & opportunities. Analyzes problems and people in depth, while generating new approaches to problems or innovations to establish best practices.
    • Shows imagination in reaching and achieving the designated sales goals. 
    • Support EPE’s initiatives to achieve the year’s annual orders, revenue, and profitability targets.
    • Support Company priorities and business unit growth goals, from the Key Accounts through the White Space growth opportunities.
  • Lead deal negotiations, contract development, and other customer activities.
    • Customer Experience and Relationship: Monitors client satisfaction (internal or external), by establishing partner relationships with clients.
    • Support and advance EPE’s relationships with key customers, market stakeholders, partners, and other solar industry participants.
    • Work with other teams to improve Client Experience and Satisfaction and measure results through achievement of company targets.
  • Sales Operations and Forecasting: Determines opportunities & threats through comprehensive analysis of current & future business performance, comprehending the big picture.
    • Manage direct sales and report to the VP of Sales & Business Development weekly/monthly forecast with contingency plans to ensure the plan is met highlighting any mitigating factors to achieving the plan.
    • Be a champion of data, supporting VP of Sales & Business Development in creating a data-based culture, while leveraging analytics and KPIs to make educated decisions.
  • Marketing: Representing EPE across the marketplace and support messaging to conform to EPE’s brand strategy, while taking in market-based information to forward into the organization for forward based marketing campaigns.
    • Maintain consistency and quality in presenting the EPE brand throughout the industry and in all business development and partner channels
    • Participate in key conferences and trade shows, and any other events as appropriate.
    • Provide perspective, feedback, and suggestions for improving EPE’s competitive positioning in the market.
  • Culture: Champion EPE’s culture, by embodying our Mission, Vision, Purpose, Values
    • Support cross department initiatives including ways to drive efficiency and yield better customer outcomes.
    • Articulate EPE’s Mission, Vision, Purpose, Values
    • Participate in company culture building activities, walk-the-talk on culture, commitment, and quality.
    • Ensure that values are reflected in daily work.
    • Complete all required regulatory and HR processes for reporting staff 
    • Leadership: coach, mentor and develop commercial team, by building relationships with their leadership team and sales managers. Ensure the team feels connected to their organization's purpose.
    • Earns trust of co-workers. Puts organization above self- interests. Manages directly Senior Managers to maximize the sales potential.
    • Complete effective performance reviews, establishing performance milestones and creating development plans.
    • Council, mentor, guide, and challenge new members as they come on board to bring them into the EPE team under the guidance of the VP of Sales and Business Development 

 

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Business Administration, or Engineering (preferred). Appropriate work/sales experience may, in certain circumstances, substitute for this educational requirement.
  • 10+ years of experience in sales (preferably consulting services) selling to Utilities, and Renewable Energy Markets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with professionals of all organizational levels
  • Previous experience developing and delivering presentations related to proposals, proposal strategies, business development and/or pursuit strategies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Independent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable and confident using Salesforce as an integral part of the sales process.
  • In-depth knowledge of selling strategies, methods, and employee motivation techniques.
  • Excellent strategic planning, organizational, and creative thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to maximize sales.
  • Ability to create and implement sales plans.
  • Ability to meet sales goals by monitoring progress.
  • Ability to analyze sales data.
  • Demonstrable experience as head of sales, developing client-focused, differentiated, and achievable solutions.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to keep multiple projects and client engagements active at once.
  • Strong understanding of meeting sales goals, negotiation, selling to customer needs, motivation for sales, sales planning, building relationships, and developing budgets.
  • Proven track of satisfying quarterly and annual business development goals.
  • Experience in expanding growth for new business (New Clients/Regions)
  • Ability to develop budgets and sales strategies.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and/or additional languages preferred.
