As a Power Systems Engineer III at EPE you will utilize extensive knowledge to execute and lead advanced power system studies for utilities and ISOs in the USA East region.  This critical role will also work to create solutions, directly engage with client, and support business development by contributing to request for proposals as well as mentor junior staff.

 

How you can make an impact:

  • Executes and oversees high-level bulk power system studies using various power systems software such as PSS/E, TARA, DSA Tools, and Aspen.
  • Ensure the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
  • Reviews and approves data analysis and interpretation of engineering, financial, and economic conditions and results, and subsequent business implications to client projects.
  • Interact with clients to seek input and address their needs and concerns with respect to the projects under study.
  • Leads and trains a team of engineers to independently execute power system analyses and transmission system planning studies.
  • Perform generic and specialized studies of the power grid, such as generation interconnection studies, transmission system planning, remedial action evaluation, black-start studies, and sub-synchronous Resonance assessment.
  • Develop mitigation plans for identified steady-state and dynamic constraints and system issues.
  • Develop and review transmission planning study methodologies and processes.
  • Lead process improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and support business development activities.

 

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

  • Extensive knowledge of multiple power regions of the country and independent system operators such as: PJM, MISO, NEISO, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ERCOT, NYISO  
  • Prior experience as a professional experience as a Power Systems Engineer and a Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis.
  • Proven team player skills with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Hands-on experience working with steady-state and dynamic base cases in the Eastern Interconnection region.
  • Solid understanding of power system basics, transient stability, and master in of-the-shelve software tools like PSS/E and TARA.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters.
  • Strong technical/report writing skills.

Location: This position will be remote

Travel:  Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
