We are seeking a seasoned Principal with a background in North American electricity markets. In this role you will work closely with senior leadership to support our growth strategy and provide subject matter expertise both internally through coaching and developing staff as well as externally to our clients. You will support the delivery of projects, organize the work and manage client interaction.

Responsibilities

Technical Duties

  • Conduct market forecasts, simulations and analyses of schedules, prices, congestion and production costs
  • Perform financial, commercial, and engineering due diligence, including assessments of project operations, siting and connection, market revenues, and contract provisions.
  • Conduct research in an effective way, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strategize on project site selection and evaluate transmission-related opportunities to minimize congestion, curtailment risks and maximize market revenues.
  • Forecast and advise on market instruments and incentives like financial transmission rights, renewable energy credits, production and investment tax credits.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on market operations, design, rules, procedures and policy.
  • Collaborate with other teams across EPE to strategize on common projects, market trends, regulatory changes, and investment opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships, including clients, industry organizations, and regulatory bodies.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, market innovations, and best practices in the energy sector.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Leadership Duties

  • Lead the Energy Market Analysis team fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies for EPE's energy market analysis services.
  • Build strong relationships and contribute to client management, sales and business development activities.
  • Manage project staffing, resource utilization, and staff development.
  • Prepare scopes of work and responses to RFPs, defining scope, effort and time estimates.
  • Engage with clients to understand and address project needs and concerns.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy in all deliverables produced by the team.
  • Oversee project timelines, ensuring completion on schedule, within budget, and to client satisfaction.
  • Mentor junior team members, enhancing team knowledge and capabilities.
  • Representing EPE at industry events, conferences and networking events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, or related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in the electric energy industry, with expertise in techno-economic market analysis.
  • Significant experience in market modeling and simulation through security constraint economic dispatch tools like PROMOD, PLEXOS, UPLAN.
  • Significant experience in addressing strategic, economic and regulatory issues in the energy sector.
  • Strong background in market optimization and market structures (PJM, SPP, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, CAISO, IESO, AESO).
  • Some experience in market analysis, operation, design, financial modeling and financing, contract negotiation.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and technological aptitude.

Location: This position is remote US or Canada

Travel:  Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
