Responsibilities

How you can make an impact:

  • Lead, oversee, and deliver advanced distribution system studies and assessments, including ADMS performance evaluations, FLISR and Volt/VAR Optimization reviews, Distribution Automation strategies, and DER integration studies, Locational Value of DER and Flexible Interconnections.
  • Lead the development and implementation of grid modernization best practices, including ADMS/DERMS integration, DER orchestration, flexible interconnection, and standards such as IEEE 1547 – 2018, IEEE 2030.5 and UL 1741.
  • Support the planning, management, and execution of utility smart grid and DER enablement projects, helping clients integrate technologies such as solar, storage, EVs, demand response, and microgrids into operational frameworks.
  • Provide technical advisory services to utilities on emerging Distribution System Operator (DSO) models, helping clients define their future-state strategies, organizational capabilities, and technology roadmaps.
  • Guide the assessment and optimization of field device coordination (reclosers, relays, sectionalizers, capacitors, regulators), ensuring alignment between protection settings, ADMS logic, and restoration strategies.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers by transferring technical knowledge and methodologies, while ensuring delivery of high-quality, client-ready deliverables such as assessment reports, gap analyses, and roadmap presentations.

  • Hands-on experience with ADMS (GE Specific experience considered an asset), including configuration and troubleshooting of advanced applications like FLISR and VVO.
  • Robust technical knowledge of DER integration, interconnection standards, and grid modernization topics, with the ability to evaluate new solutions and drive innovation.
  • Familiarity with advanced grid modernization solutions—such as Flexible Interconnection (Flex IX), Locational Value of DER (LVDER), DSO (Distribution System Operator) strategies, DERMS, etc. and the ability to translate these technologies into viable services.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant IEEE standards, like IEEE 1547 – 2018, IEEE2030.5, etc.
  • Familiarity with distribution planning and modeling software packages (CYME, Synergi, OpenDSS, or similar) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to interpret and assess device protection settings (trip curves, time-current coordination, reclosing sequences, reset logic) and their integration with ADMS logic.
  • Proficiency in analyzing historical outage event logs, SCADA logs, and ADMS operational logs to identify root causes of miscoordination or mis operation.
  • Beginner level computer programming skills (Python, SQL, etc.

Soft Skills
