We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer with experience building customer facing API services to join our data engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain API Services that our clients will use to pull several major and potentially large scale data sets. You will work to implement efficient data solutions to ensuring data quality, reliability, and accessibility of data to our clients, both internal and external.
How you can make an impact:
Implement and configure API management platforms (MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, or Axway) to meet business requirements
Design, develop, and deploy client-facing APIs that adhere to industry standards and best practices
Create and manage API policies for security, throttling, caching, and transformation
Build reusable integration components, connectors, and custom adapters
Implement OAuth, SAML, JWT, and other security protocols for API authentication and authorization
Develop API documentation and resources for external client developers
Monitor API performance and troubleshoot integration issues
Collaborate with client teams to understand integration requirements and provide solutions
Participate in API governance initiatives and ensure compliance with standards
Support the onboarding of new API consumers and partners
Drive performance optimization for latency-sensitive API services at scale
Document APIs and system architecture for internal and external consumers
Implement security best practices and data protection measures
Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code
Optimize application performance and address scalability challenges
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues
Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in backend development and API design
4+ years of hands-on experience with at least one enterprise API management platform (MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, or Axway)
Strong understanding of API gateway architecture, proxy development, and lifecycle management
Knowledge of API monitoring, analytics, and developer portal functionality
Strong proficiency in backend languages (Python, Java, Go)
Background in SaaS product development or enterprise software
Experience with database systems (SQL and/or NoSQL)
Knowledge of API design principles and microservice architecture
Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Proficiency in related technologies: JSON/XML, OpenAPI/Swagger, OAuth, JWT
Experience supporting client-facing integrations in production environments
