We are seeking a highly skilled Director, Tax and Treasury, to lead the tax function in our private equity-backed engineering consulting firm. Based in the United States with operations across multiple countries, this role will focus on managing external tax advisors responsible for filings in the U.S. and other jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with all tax regulations and providing expertise on multi-tiered LLC entity structures. The ideal candidate will bring prior experience working with private equity-backed companies and possess a deep understanding of international and domestic tax complexities. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with complex tax regulations while optimizing tax strategies to support the company’s growth and financial objectives.

 

How you can make an impact:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies that align with business goals, minimize liabilities, and optimize cash flow within a complicated tax structure.
  • Evaluate and advise on the tax implications of acquisitions, expansion into new jurisdictions, and other strategic business decisions.
  • Partner with internal team and outside advisors to structure global investments and operations to maximize tax benefits while minimizing exposure to adverse tax consequences.
  • Advise on intercompany transactions and ownership structures, while optimizing transfer pricing policies and other cross-border charges to ensure compliance and tax efficiency.
  • Oversee the coordination of global tax filings, including partnership returns, foreign income reporting, indirect tax and compliance with international tax treaties.
  • Review and approve all external filings to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Manage reporting requirements for foreign income, including foreign tax credits, controlled foreign corporations (CFCs), and Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income (GILTI).
  • Provide guidance on the evolving tax legislation applicable to the company’s operations.
  • Collaborate with external advisors to ensure compliance with partnership taxation rules, including income allocation, address complex issues related to K-1 preparation, foreign tax credits, and pass-through income reporting, etc.
  • Lead the work performed by tax firms in US and international jurisdictions ensuring all necessary information is shared with these firms. Manage relationships with other external advisors and auditors.
  • Support due diligence processes for acquisitions by evaluating potential tax risks and opportunities.
  • Serve as a critical leader within the Finance team and as a secondary for banking activities.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with offshore banks and other financial institutions.

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or tax.
  • CPA
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in corporate tax planning and compliance within multinational organizations or professional tax firms that serve multinational clients.
  • Familiarity with ASC 740 reporting standards and international tax regulations is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US income tax regulations including LLC and flow-through arrangements, exposure to global indirect taxes (e.g., Sales/VAT/GST).
  • Understanding of international tax regulations affecting global operations, including foreign income repatriation and treaty compliance.
  • Proficiency in transfer pricing methodologies and cross-border transaction planning.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with experience managing diverse tax deadlines across jurisdictions.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail in reviewing filings prepared by third-party firms.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external advisors alike.
  • Advanced analytical skills for financial modeling from a tax perspective.

Location: This position will be located in our corporate office located in Austin, TX

Travel:  Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
