Responsibilities

The Program Manager will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing programs and supporting to the Planning Policy team related to the electric grid and wholesale power market within an Independent System Operator (ISO) environment.

 

How you can make an impact:

  • Develop and implement detailed program plans with clear objectives, timelines, and deliverables, emphasizing line-of-sight scheduling.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineers, analysts, regulatory specialists, and market participants, to ensure seamless program execution.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities for program improvements.
  • Proactively pinpoint gaps in processes and resource allocation, devising strategic solutions to keep the program on track.
  • Manage program budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure deliverables are met within scope and schedule.
  • Lead efforts in program documentation, reporting, and communication with executive leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on changes in energy policies, federal and state regulations, and emerging technologies impacting the ISO environment.
  • Develop risk management strategies to address potential program challenges and mitigate operational risks.
  • Provide technical and advisory support for current program implementations, leveraging a deep understanding of the current landscape and experience with utilities across the continent.

 

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Over 7 years of experience in the power industry, focusing on ISO/RTO operations, wholesale power markets, or grid management.
  • Required experience with planning and MS Project.
  • Strong understanding of wholesale electricity markets, transmission planning, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., FERC, NERC, state commissions).
  • Proven track record in program management, including leading cross-functional teams and managing large-scale initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (PMP certification is a plus).
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends.
  • Highly desirable knowledge of emerging technologies such as demand response, energy storage, and renewable integration.

Location: This position is open to remote

Travel:  Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
