Responsibilities

Join us in leading the change!

Develop and conduct distribution design, modeling, analysis, reports, presentations, and technical research related to various elements of the distribution system including distribution design sketches, construction inspections, system design studies, cost-benefit and alternatives analysis.

 

How you can make an impact:   

  • Develop and review engineering plans (overhead and underground) to ensure accuracy, all client requirements are met as well as ensuring that the design meets all applicable codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with utility clients to provide construction inspections and complete inspection reports.
  • Coordinate with contractors and sub-contractors to deliver high quality deliverables.
  • Develop technical business documentation, including providing input to writing and reviewing Scopes of Work and slide decks for presentations.
  • Identify expected system impacts from the interconnection of distributed energy resource technologies and determine appropriate and cost-effective mitigation measures.
  • Perform distribution planning studies including load addition studies, DER interconnection studies, voltage optimization, volt-var and smart inverter studies, contingency analyses, and N-1 studies.
  • Perform technical reviews for distribution planning studies performed by other engineering staff and provide feedback and ensure high quality deliverables.
  • Perform research and analysis related to predictive analytics, distribution automation, voltage optimization, electric vehicles, conservation voltage reduction, automated circuit restoration, and other emerging technologies.
  • Perform research and analysis related to engineering codes and standards and how those apply to specific distribution equipment and electric vehicle supply equipment.
  • Provide technical advisory services especially with regards to distribution engineering practices, processes, and technologies.
  • Prepare and troubleshooting of system models and technical reports.
  • Communicate with clients and ensure client expectations are met and managed properly.
  • Process, generate, and maintain data as required for other engineering related studies.
  • Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
  • Capable of autonomously and independently executing assigned tasks.
  • Assists in developing tools, templates, processes, and procedures that enhance engineering study completion.
  • Supervision and mentoring of entry-level staff.

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas. Licensing in other states is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills and understanding.
  • Proven team player skills with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks.
  • Flexible with the ability to manage change and adapt to new challenges.
  • Have high standards for producing quality reports and products that he/she shall own with pride.
  • Strong technical/report writing skills.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required. Electrical engineering emphasis preferred, however civil and mechanical engineering degrees may be acceptable depending on work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a distribution engineer

Location: This position is Remote Texas -  Dallas or Austin preferred

Travel:  Occasional travel may be needed
