EPE is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our growing Interconnection Services team. In this role you will work closely with the entire team to provide subject matter expertise to our clients across a wide number of projects. How you can make an impact:

  • Track record of successfully delivering generator interconnection, load interconnection or transmission planning projects across multiple ISOs/RTOs and/or Utilities in the Eastern Interconnect (PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE, SERC, MISO, SPP, etc) or ERCOT.
  • Provide technical and competitive insight throughout the development, interconnection, and operation phases of projects.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on generator interconnection or load interconnection related studies by leading and conducting analyses related to load flow, transient stability and short circuit.
  • Passionate about solving difficult technical problems, providing innovative solutions and taking ownership of the solutions provided.
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one but preferably several of the following software packages: PSSE, TARA, PSLF, ASPEN, PSCAD and PROMOD.
  • Identify optimal strategy for project interconnection to the grid based on system impacts and grid capacity.
  • Collaborate with other teams within EPE to provide strategic guidance on market trends and process change across multiple ISO’s In the Eastern Interconnect
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, industry organizations, and regulatory agencies.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, market innovations, and best practices in the energy industry to enhance the organization's offerings and capabilities.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned
  • Ensure that every document generated by the Power Systems Engineer(s) assigned to a project is prepared, checked, and approved in accordance with EPE's quality management standards and without errors.
  • Take responsibility for the timely completion of assigned projects while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
  • Interact with clients to seek input and address their needs and concerns regarding the project(s) under study.
  • Assist in preparation of responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) by providing a scope of work and time estimates for new projects.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members to build a strong and knowledgeable team.
  • Participate in industry conferences, seminars, and workshops to stay informed about new developments in the interconnection industry and network with other professionals in the field.

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here what’s needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field (a Master's or PhD degree is preferred).
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in the electric energy industry, generator modelling, transmission planning and interconnection studies is preferred.
  • Solid background in at least one of the following: power flow, short circuit, EMT studies and transient stability
  • Experience with large load interconnection or DER interconnection would be considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of interconnection processes would be considered a plus.
  • Proven ability to evaluate new utility tariffs and study methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Automation experience (Python, C#, SQL) would be looked upon favorably.
  • Competency in analytical problem-solving, strong communication skills

Location: This position will pen to Remote

Travel:  Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
