As a Manager with a background in Generation Interconnection in the Eastern Interconnect or Southeast you will be part of the EPE leadership team in our Energy Resources line of business reporting through to the Director of Interconnection Services and working closely with the VP of Energy Resources. You will be responsible for leading a team of 4 to 6 engineering professionals which could range from fresh graduates to senior experts. As a Manager, you will work closely with the Director and VP to develop strategic and operational plans, provide technical leadership and training, drive client management and sales, ensure high quality technical and service standards are maintained, and engage directly in complex engineering projects. In addition to technical expertise, candidates who are effective communicators, relationship builders, organized, agile, and adaptable will be successful in this role.

How you can make an impact:

  • Leading the Generation Integration and Interconnection efforts and act as an expert in matters related to interconnection processes and requirements, utility interconnection agreements, and compliance.
  • Partnering with the leadership team to develop strategic and operational plans and help drive the growth of the Energy Resources business unit.
  • Developing training and continuous education plans for direct and indirect reports.
  • Promoting process improvement efforts and tool development to enhance efficiency. 
  • Supporting recruitment efforts through networking and industry engagement.
  • Maintaining EPE’s high client satisfaction, building and managing key customer relationships and participating in closing strategic opportunities (including RFPs). And supporting the growth of existing business accounts in the Eastern Interconnection and ERCOT including clients such as solar, wind, storage, offshore wind, HVDC and large load developers, including identify and developing new customers (non-existing base).  
  • Participating and coordinating industry involvement through conferences, speaking opportunities, and engagement on committees to promote company business and sales growth. 

 

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:

 

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, with a focus on Power Systems (Master’s degree or PhD is a plus)
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering generator interconnection or transmission planning projects in at least one ISO/RTO and/or Utility. Experience in the Eastern Interconnection or ERCOT is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of at least one but preferably several of the following software packages: PSSE, TARA, PSLF, ASPEN, PSCAD and PROMOD.
  • Proven ability to identify optimal strategy for project interconnection to the grid based on system impacts and grid capacity. 
  • Any experience with the following is a plus:
    • DER interconnection processes and requirements
    • Development of transmission solutions to address reliability needs
    • Large load interconnection processes
    • People management

Location: This position is open to Remote US or Canada

Travel:  Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
