EPE is searching for a power systems engineer with growing expertise in distributed energy resources (DER) and electric vehicles (EVs) to support our work in assisting utilities, public and private fleets, and other stakeholders and clients with analysis and integration of these technologies. The Power Systems Engineer will be expected to apply expertise in electrification (transportation or building), demand flexibility, electric distribution planning, battery storage technologies, and distributed energy resources (DER) to aid our clients in making informed decisions about their grid modernization efforts.

 

 

 

How you can make an impact:

  • Developing and providing electrification project services such as product and program development, EVSE integration and interconnection, EVSE standards and policies, load demand analyses, financial modeling, grid planning and interconnection studies.
  • Develop and/or implement utility programs or pilots for beneficial electrification include transportation electrification and building electrification programs including EVSE incentive programs, outreach and education programs, EV equity programs, etc.
  • Develop utility-level technical requirements for EVSE integration, support for managed charging and vehicle-to-all (V2X) capabilities.
  • Perform electric distribution planning studies including load growth forecasting, EV/EVSE adoption forecasting, and interconnection criteria for electric vehicle technology.
  • Model and analyze load consumption and usage patterns of power grids in various communities
  • Develop methodologies and tools to assist clients in making informed decisions about the installation of electric vehicle supply equipment and EV adoption in their communities
  • Conduct site analysis and make recommendations for placement and configuration of EVSE and electrical units to support EV implementation
  • Identify, collect, and analyze fleet customer data and support fleet electrification efforts
  • Develop and research utility rate impacts from EVs and utility product/program offerings
  • Database integration and development for EVSE and EV customers
  • Draft reports and studies that present technical information in a manner that is sufficiently concise and clear to meet the needs of EPE’s clients.

 

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here what’s needed:

  • Engineering experience with various EV models and technology including the various port types
  • Experience with various EV supply equipment (EVSE), charge point operator (CPO) solutions, integration and implementation
  • Experience with utility customer technical program implementation
  • Experience with EV fleet vehicles and fleet electrification
  • Experience with EVSE site design and selection
  • Experience with demand response / demand flexibility including standard integration protocols (OpenADR, IEEE 2030.5, OCPP 1.6, etc.)
  • Experience with demand response management systems (DRMS), distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS), or other demand response load management systems
  • Experience with distribution grid planning and load studies
  • Experience with customer database systems (SalesForce, etc.)
  • Experience with data analytics (Power BI, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with composing and reviewing technical reports and studies.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering preferred.

Location: This position is open to Remote US or Canada

Travel:  Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
