EPE operates two business units, a Utilities business unit and an Energy Resources business unit.

As the Vice President of Business Development and sales of the Utilities business unit, the incumbent will drive growth, revenue, and market expansion. The role will ensure alignment with EPE’s vision and the Business Unit's strategic goals and initiatives. The selected candidate will be pivotal in shaping our strategic direction, building and leading high-performing teams and fostering exceptional customer experiences. The ideal candidate will possess deep industry knowledge of the business models, market trends, engineering, and operational needs of investor-owned electric utilities, ISOs/RTOs (Independent System Operators/Regional Transmission Operators), electric cooperatives, and municipalities. Knowledge and understanding of the key elements of the industry’s clean energy transition, including renewables (solar and wind), energy storage, electrification, and microgrids, is beneficial.

 

 

 

 

How you can make an impact:

 

  • Strategy:
    • Develop and execute a growth strategy aligned with the Company’s vision and the Business Unit (BU) goals.
    • Lead strategic planning initiatives and ensure effective strategy deployment and execution.
    • Identify potential risks associated with projects, technologies, and market shifts and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing Business Development & Sales team.
    • Set clear goals and provide guidance to team members.
  • Customer Experience:
    • Ensure customer satisfaction and retention, driving organic growth.
    • Enhance communication and reporting processes.
    • Submit proposals with high quality and within specified timeframes.
    • Improve sales efficiency, including responsiveness, procurement, contract engagement, and onboarding processes.
  • Growth:
    • Drive market and product expansion, exploring new markets and products.
    • Increase market share and conduct effective market research.
    • Focus on deal size, including average deal size and large deals closed.
    • Cultivate new partnerships and revenue streams.
    • Actively participate in industry organizations, conferences, and speaking engagements to contribute to the company's brand presence.
  • Sales and Revenue Quota:
    • Achieve monthly sales performance targets.
    • Develop and manage sales forecasts effectively.
  • Partnership and Relationship Building:
    • Develop strategic partnerships and collaborations with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Budget Management:
    • Effectively manage the Business Development and sales budget, allocate resources, and ensure a positive ROI for initiatives.
    • Manage BD & Sales Travel & Entertainment budgets.
    • Contribute to BU Revenues and Gross Profit Margin.
  • Data-Driven Insights:
    • Utilize data analytics to assess the current state of business operations, pinpointing strengths and areas for enhancement.
    • Regularly evaluate performance metrics, refining strategies based on data to align with the Business Unit's objectives.
    • Encourage a culture within the Business Development and sales team that prioritizes data as a cornerstone for decision-making.

Qualifications

Deep Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of clean energy transition, electric utilities, project developers for renewables, battery energy storage as well as other emerging technologies.
Strategic Thinker: Ability to develop and execute comprehensive business development and sales strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
Leadership Skills: Experience in building, leading, and managing a business development and sales team, setting clear goals, and providing mentorship.
Customer-Centric Approach: Focus on understanding client needs and pain points in the renewable energy and electric utilities sectors.
Results-Driven: A results-oriented approach with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and KPIs.
Public Speaking: Confidence and experience in representing the company at industry conferences, events, and speaking engagements.
Tech Savvy: Familiarity with emerging technologies, digital tools, and data analytics to optimize sales processes and decision-making.

Location: Candidate located in/or willing to relocate to Austin, Texas are preferred - Will consider remote candidates
